I just had my Outcome Based Evaluation Class and I think I'm really going to like it. The focus is on how to do research that will be useful. We talked about teams and put ourselves at compass points, which was a fascinating exercise and really helpful. As I meant to do but forgot, here's a link to what we were looking at on what the compass points mean. I put myself at South but I think I can be a rather decisive South. This reminds me so much of Longacre, where we worked on building community by understanding ourselves better.
I'm rather amazed, all of my classes look to be great, no duds this semester, which is wonderful. One of my good friends is in this class and we spent the break and time before class talking about books and fanfiction since she wants to know more about it. So I pointed her to places and was reminded that I really do want to share my writing with the world.
Its snowing, beautiful light snow that looks like light crystals in the air when it falls and its not too cold or windy just beautiful. As long as I remember to wear my hiking/stompy boots for walking I should be okay, because as its still falling not everything is salted or shoveled.
Now another meme since I so many nice memes have been going around lately. This one is from

Pick a character I write, and I will give you the top five ideas/concepts/other I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to depicting them accurately. This includes both original characters and characters about whom I write fanfic.

Date: 2011-01-12 02:03 am (UTC)Demeter is all about life and family, she helps things grow.
Also she is not human, she's a goddess and a Greek goddess so her morals and senses of how things should be are quite different.
Though she's lived through many centuries, she will never be mortal but she can pretend to be.
If you are someone that she loves, she will change the world for you without a thought.
She doesn't like her family, she feels part of them but knows how casually they can use lives and considers herself one of the better ones of them. The ones she has a real connection to are the younger ones, Apollo, Artemis, her daughter and some of her siblings but there's too much history between some of them. This isn't completely true, but its how she sees herself.

He's very physical in all things he does, when he's nervous he fiddles with things and when he's angry he hits things.
One of the things that always makes me sad about Will is that he doesn't think he's intelligent. He knows that he is a good fighter and a fairly honorable man, but the world of reading and writing feels beyond him. He can do both but he has very little confidence.
Also he doesn't believe that he can change who he is. He is the peasant son of a good man. Robin can give him more options as a peasant but he can't change that part of who he is.

Date: 2011-01-12 04:58 am (UTC)She's a bird and a Fae, so her reactions are going to be strange and wild compared to a person.
She lives very much in the present, because Changelings don't have as long as they might. She's not that good at thinking about the future.
The truth twists and turns around her. She rarely straight out lies, but she'll also rarely tell the straight truth. With a few people, she does her best to be more clear and honest but its going against her nature.
As part of living in the present, she's a flirt, but she's also very loyal. She'll dance with one person and laugh but only a few people know how serious she is. Also it doesn't matter how dangerous you are in your world, like Demeter, if she considers you hers, she'll worry for you and tease you and you're family.

Date: 2011-01-12 06:41 pm (UTC)Jane is from a politer and much more careful time. She watches what she says and how she says it. In Milliways, she loosens up slightly, but around strangers or people who worry her, she becomes quite polite.
She is at this point in canon still rather optimistic, she feels that it is possible to be a writer and a wife.
Her writing is how she defines herself and she wishes to change the types of books that are out there.
Her family is quite important to her and she loves them though at times it feels like she's always having to explain to her mother what she wishes to do.
She uses up every bit of space on any piece of paper she can find since its expensive.

Even though he now lives in the palace, he still spends time in his house near the Lantern Waste.
He has a block of lost time from when he was a statue and it bothers him. He wishes he knew how long he was transformed.
Music is his solace, whenever he's sad, it comforts him.

Date: 2011-01-12 07:33 pm (UTC)He's so used to lying about who he is that he feels confused by how many people in Milliways know his name and that he is lying.
The secret to his lying is to be sincere and keep things simple. Adding too many little touches tends to get you caught.
He's quite sensual and enjoys being alive and is willing to try most things once.
In terms of how he reacts to certain things, he's still very much from Uberwald. He hates whenever this comes out in terms of how he acts but he grew up in a place where he was taught to be fearful. The way he lives now is sometimes a defiant reaction to that.

Date: 2011-01-13 12:03 am (UTC)He's not from our time, he's like Will in that while he's technically a teenager, he's not a modern one. At this point in time, he's spent a year trying to fill his father's shoes and its hard.
William misses his father, they argued a lot but he misses having someone who would try to fix things. He's seen his father fail horribly but he no knows that his father was always trying.
Justice is important to him, because he's yet to see it happen. That's why I think when he's older he's going to end up as a sheriff or a deputy.
He's curious about the world and wishes he could see more of it, but he's so aware of all his responsibilities. So he reads, but doesn't let himself hope too much on someday.
