Today I drove out to the Detroit Institute of Art, which was pretty simple to get to. I just followed Woodward Avenue into downtown Detroit, which I plan on doing again. Detroit is a beautiful and living city and one that I really don't know well enough. The DIA is one of the best organized and curated museums that I've seen in a while. There's a thoughtfulness to how the exhibits are presented and an easy flow. As today I'm feeling a little sick and not that well, I didn't spend as much time as I wanted to, because I just couldn't quite concentrate enough to give the art its due. But I know how to get there and plan on going there again and exploring some of the other museums clustered around it. I also learned that its cheap to park and enter, so there will be many more visits and that area of Detroit looks interesting.
My last entry was a tough one and overall work is going well. Thank you to everyone for helping me think through my job, it helps me a lot to write out what's happening. It's the main part of how I process what's going on. I just hit a surprise bump and that plus feeling sick meant I needed to get out some of my feelings. I've been living in a strange sort of limbo which will change in November as well as getting a desk at work. When I have a space that's fully mine with all my stuff, the settling in will go better. That's the next step.
Today I sent off some emails about using my blog as a way to record my progress as things are done in the library and plans for Monday's professional development day. Life is complicated, but good.
I also have realized something very weird about myself. Since I'm staying at a hotel, that means I have many HBO channels, but not BBCAmeric. Well HBO keeps showing X-Men: First Class, but I've yet to watch it yet. One of the weird things about all the fic and RP, I've done with Charles is that I'm rather worried to watch canon and see how I've changed him. I'll probably do a rewatch with friends at some point, but for now I'll watch other things.
